My Experience in Batam | A small Blog to Batam Best Places

Visit to Batam

Hey guys welcome to our new exciting blog. Today we are going to visit the city of Batam which is a little island in Indonesia and is just a short forty minutes ferry ride away from Singapore. We are going to visit some famous places here and enjoy a variety of seafood.

After having our breakfast in the morning we took the ferry to go to Batam. It was crowded. Many people are here with their friends and families.

I took a window seat on the ferry to enjoy the sea view. One hour later and we are here. You can book your return ticket at the Batam Centre ferry terminal if you have not done so.

It seems that the shopping mall nearby is connected to the ferry terminal and it is sheltered, super convenient! Wow, this shopping mall looks really modern.

I did not expect Batam to be like this. Even
Huawei has a presence on this island! STARBUCKS COFFEE Well I am not surprised to see an international coffee chain here. Now we have to grab a taxi to find a place to have lunch.

As it is still early to check into my hotel. We will head to a place for lunch first. Batam looks well developed, hotels and shopping malls everywhere.

After having lunch it is time for dessert! We found this cafe called Fur Elise nearby that has great reviews. Their selection of gelato ice cream looks good.

The Fur Elise cafe prices here are a bit on the high side. We ordered 3 medium sized Gelato Medium cups with two different flavors. It was yummy. The dessert completes my lunch. Time to check into the hotel!

Sovrano Hotel This hotel is literally stone throw away from the Grand Batam mall (50m). We got a Deluxe Queen room. First impression, super clean and new!

It is pretty basic but cozy, good for 1-2 people. The room has a window but the view is so-so. Now it's time to check out famous places here.

Grand Batam Mall

I was told that this is the newest and most modern looking mall in Batam. Nice shirt pay 1 get 3 wow! It's a great shopping mall, no wonder Singaporeans like coming to Batam.

Shopping malls are not my thing, we are going to see the sunset instead and here it is Altitude Rooftop Bar by Marriott. The view from here looks alright. It faces the opposite side of Batam.

Compared to the prices in Batam, everything here is very expensive. We ordered Long Island Tea and are now waiting for the sunset to happen, but it looks cloudy now.

It did not have nice vibes though. The Promenade It looks like this place is a good spot for dining by the sea. Now we are going to try the seafood here that we have heard so much about. The seafood was good and we enjoyed it a lot on the Promenade

After a whole day of walking and visiting different places we feel very tired and we heard there is a place for relaxing massages and spa so we are  going to visit it.

ESKA Wellness Spa & Massage appears to be quite popular with Singaporeans for massages. After a 90 min body massage we feel quite relaxed and the soreness in our bodies is gone. We should be able to sleep well now after this amazing massage experience.

Jabal Arafah Mosque

On Day 2 in Batam we are going to see another famous place called Jabal Arafah Mosque. It is a beautiful and modern mosque on the hill in the Nagoya area with a tower, cafeteria, library and green garden.

But before going there we need to have our breakfast so we are going to Uncle Lim Kopitiam. It is an old coffee shop that opens early for breakfast.

The Hakka rice with mixed pork tastes peppery and it makes me feel more awake and now is the time to visit Itsumo cafe. We have heard so much about it and after visiting here I highly recommend this place to everyone because of its friendly staff and their tea.

The Japanese theme here makes us want to stay for long so we ordered Jasmine Pearl tea and cheese tart. The tea has a sweet and fragrant aroma and the cheese tart is also very good  and tasty with a perfect and balanced taste of sweetness. Now that we are full it's time we head to the Jabal Arafah Mosque.

We took a taxi and arrived at the beautiful Mosque. It was so green and beautiful everywhere green trees and plants could be seen and little fountains also looked very beautiful.

There were shops selling gifts so we decided that on the way back we would get something from there and then while seeing the beautiful furnished entrance we entered the Mosque.

Inside of the mosque was so beautiful and its interior was decorated and the floor was shining . Some people were sitting and some were praying and the children were running around.

We took a walk inside the mosque and it had a peaceful and calm atmosphere. We visited the library of the mosque and then we climbed stairs and arrived at the second floor.

We looked around and then we arrived at the ticket counter and got the tickets for the tower. It is called MJA Tower and is said to give the whole view of the city.

From the tower we can enjoy the beautiful view of Batam city and also the Singaporean view. After a while we came down and saw a Gift shop, so we decided to buy something for our family and after that we decided our next destination which is The ILLUSION Museum.

THE ILLUSION Museum

There is an interesting place called the illusion museum in Batam. It is a modern 3D art museum where we can have fun taking pictures in amazing ways.

We got the tickets and entered the museum and we saw different paintings of dinosaurs and anime characters, old Mona Lisa paintings and there were so many illusion paintings.

We took pictures with some famous characters like Hulk, Luffy and dinosaurs that looked so real and with angel wings and a room upside down and with a cracked 3D wall a cracked wall and some floor illusions looked like like a floor is breaking and a person is falling in it there were also some very  funny illusions that made us laugh a lot while taking pictures.

Mirror illusions were amazing and the pictures came out really good. We took pictures with almost every illusionary art and mirror illusions.

We had so much fun in this illusionary place and we loved the visit here. After this we started feeling hungry so we had our lunch at a local restaurant. After that we went to our hotel room because we were tired due to roaming in this place and needed rest.
